The rhythmic drumming of heavy rain against the reinforced glass of the Defense Force headquarters provided a somber soundtrack to the flickering neon lights of the training bay. The air inside still smelled faintly of ozone and spent cooling vents, a lingering reminder of the catastrophic battle that had unfolded only hours prior.
