The air on Shinsenkyo was thick with the cloying, sweet scent of a thousand flowers, a perfume that masked the underlying stench of decay and the metallic tang of blood. We had made camp near a crystalline stream, its waters glowing with a faint, bioluminescent hue that cast dancing shadows against the ancient, gnarled roots of the surrounding trees.
